Puppy FAQ’s:
About Our Breeding Program
- Health & Genetic Testing:
All breeding stock is cleared for known hereditary conditions in Labrador Retrievers.- Hip and Elbow Dysplasia
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)
- EIC, DNM, TVD, CM, and HNPK
- DNA testing performed through OFA, PawPrint Genetics, DDC Laboratories, and UC Davis Veterinary School.
- Results are posted on OFA for transparency
- Breeding Philosophy:
- Breeding to the Labrador Standard—there is no “American” or “English” Labrador, only a true, purebred Labrador that should look and move like a Labrador!
- We breed black, yellow, and occasionally chocolate Labradors—these are the only three recognized purebred colors.
- Beware of non-standard colors; any other “color” is often a mixed breed—choose reputable breeders who prioritize breed integrity.
- Puppy Prices:
- Well-bred, reputable Labrador puppies typically cost $3,500 to $4,500.
- Puppy Rearing and Socialization:
- Puppies are born and raised in my home environment.
- Starting at 4 weeks, puppies spend the day on the back patio and nights inside the house.
- Raised following the Puppy Culture Program for socialization and early training.
- Incorporate the Rule of 7 — Early Neurological Stimulation to promote healthy development.
- Breeding Philosophy & Schedule:
- I am a hobby breeder, breeding only when I want a puppy or two for my own program—usually once a year at most.
- I do not start a waiting list until pregnancy is confirmed.
- Puppies are selected for their prospective families based on compatibility, not on a first-come basis.
- Puppy Placement:
- I personally meet and speak with all prospective owners to ensure a good match.
- Puppies are placed with limited registration and spay/neuter agreements; they are not sold for breeding or show.
- No puppies are sold over email or online—personal interaction is required.
- Puppy Care & Vaccination:
- Puppies receive their first vaccines at 6-7 weeks and are dewormed at least 3 times.
- All puppies are microchipped before going home.
- They are veterinarian-checked and cleared before placement, and new owners must have a health check within 48 hours.
- Puppy Pick & Return Policy:
- No refunds.
- I ask for first right of refusal if the owner can no longer keep the puppy; I take back any dog I breed and will find a suitable home.
- Additional Information:
- Many of my puppies go on to serve as working service or support dogs.
